Modern Farmhouse: The Exterior

Oakwood Exterior Before and After.jpeg

I have one last before shot to show you.  It's the exterior of the modern farmhouse.  So, technically, its not a farmhouse but a center-hall colonial, however, the vibe my clients were after leaned more farmhouse with a touch of modern and a sprinkle of traditional.

As you can tell by the before shot, the previous owner had some crazy sense of color.  A bright yellow house, royal blue shutters, and lime green paneling on the front door!!  You can’t really tell by this photo, but she carried the blue and lime green combo to the top and base of the columns.   To each her own!

We knew that the house needed to be much more sophisticated while highlighting the beautiful front porch.  We removed the shutters, replaced the light fixtures and painted the house Benjamin Moore Coventry Grey with Benjamin Moore Super White trim.  The front door was sanded, the extra bullnose trim around the paneling removed, and all the hardware replaced with modern matte black options.

The front door leads the way for this home, donning Benjamin Moore Hidden Sapphire.  We carried the same color to the porch swing and into the home’s kitchen. Hidden Sapphire is GORGEOUS! It is a really deep blue with a hint of green.  Sometimes it even looks black. I just love it! We finished with some potted plants and a simple entry rug to make it come together.
